Zebra Partners is comprised of an award-winning team that has creatively launched over 600 products. Founded by Perrin Kaplan, Beth Llewelyn and Kelli Koenig Horner, Zebra Partners LLC was started with a mission to bring innovative marketing to consumer brands that we – as marketers, moms and interactive entertainment industry veterans – have a true passion for.
While based in Seattle, team members, affectionately known as the herd, live on both coasts and many places in between so they can live where they thrive and work where their clients need them.
Perrin is a marketing strategist with a diverse background in consumer entertainment marketing, politics and journalism. She drives strategic planning, corporate positioning, public policy and viral marketing efforts and is well entrenched in the gaming world. Prior to founding Zebra, Perrin was VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for Nintendo and oversaw many aspects of the internationally recognized marketing and public relations programs, including public affairs, investor relations and community relations. She also served as VP for The Rockey Company, a public relations firm; was in journalism with KING Broadcasting, Seattle’s NBC affiliate; and managed political communications for the state capitol and White House campaigns. Perrin has deep connections across traditional and citizen media and knows how to spark a viral fire that encourages an ongoing stream of impact to our client’s bottom-line.
Kelli has extensive experience developing innovative campaigns and bringing major consumer products to market. She has a passion for understanding customer motivations (especially among moms and kids) and aligning them with relevant brand strategies for our clients. She also thrives on seeing a cohesive campaign come together across all marketing disciplines. Prior to founding Zebra, Kelli launched more than 300 Nintendo products, developing brand strategy, spearheading the in-house research capability and guiding agencies and her team to break the mold of traditional advertising, marketing and public relations. Kelli began her career in advertising at McCann Erickson and Ogilvy and Mather agencies serving entertainment, technology, fast food and financial service industries. Kelli has a knack for ensuring all our clients stay true to their brand and that all communications and marketing programs are relevant, strategic and synergized.
Beth brings more than 20 years of experience in global, strategic corporate communications, public relations and crisis communications. As one of the founders at Zebra, she leads strategy, media relations and public policy and is revered for her wicked pen. She dazzles our clients with poignant speeches, powerful op-eds and attention getting headlines and news angles. Prior to Zebra, Beth spent 12 years heading corporate communications efforts for Nintendo overseeing major events, analyst relations, internal communications and product launches. She also worked for GolinHarris and several other PR agencies in LA and Washington, DC, representing clients in the entertainment industry, non-profit and government sectors. Beth resides on the East Coast to serve our clients there and to ensure timely media outreach across the nation.
Andrea Sausedo Piotraszewski
Andrea Sausedo Piotraszewski is a seasoned public relations professional with more than 15 years of creating and delivering strategic, meaningful media outreach programs for clients in the personal technology/electronics, video games, Internet, toys and consumer goods markets. Prior to joining Zebra Partners, Andrea held senior management positions with agencies WongDoody Communications and Faiola Davis Public Relations and in-house at Reveal Computer Products. Her client portfolio includes Disney Consumer Products, Striiv, Sapphire Energy, Zapd, Alpine Electronics of America, Diamond Multimedia, RioPort, PhatNoise and Riffage, among others. Previous interactive entertainment clients include Disney Interactive (formerly Buena Vista Games), U4ia, Eidos Interactive, Activision, Virgin Interactive, Interplay Productions and Psygnosis.
Michele Spring Fajeau
Michele brings nearly 20 years of public relations experience to Zebra Partners – creating deeper awareness for client brands and ultimately, helping clients raise capital, win customers, or sell products. She specializes in technology and products aimed at families and has a special interest in the power of edutainment for kids. Over the years, Michele has worked with a diverse client roster, having launched startups such as LinkedIn and Gigwalk, driven PR campaigns for marquee technology firms, such as Hewlett-Packard and Intuit, as well as managed visibility efforts for non-profits like Fair Trade USA and Children’s Creativity Museum. Additionally, Michele represented the investment endeavors of Lightspeed Venture Partners and their portfolio companies. Michele is also actively involved in the blogger community, having contributed to several blogs including Mama Manifesto, From Left to Write, SV Moms, Clever Girls Collective and her own blog, Alas, I Digress.
Sean is a seasoned media specialist working with Zebra Partners’ gaming, interactive, and startup clients. He has more than ten years of experience working with tech media and influencers.
Rob is a media relations specialist and writer that has worked in gaming, technology, parenting/kids and business sectors for over 18 years. From industry changing gaming campaigns for Ouya, to navigating and learning the mobile kids app battleground with Fingerprint, to engaging travel outlets for KidZania, Rob has worked with top outlets around the nation and beyond with Zebra. Prior to joining Zebra Partners Rob worked for many years on Nintendo, helped with the launch of the popular recruiting site Rivals.com, and shepherded Student Sports before they became ESPN Rise and worked on health care related products. A freelance sports and feature writer, Rob continues to write for such publications as The Kansas City Star and has worked with the Los Angeles Daily News, Cincinnati Enquirer, LA Parent and MLB.com among other publications. Prior to his career in PR, he has worked in television, print and radio broadcasting.
Tara Settembre is a PR and social media strategist with a background and Master’s degree in journalism and communications from New York University. She has over 10 years of agency and in-house PR and social media experience. Before joining Zebra Partners, she held the position of Corporate Communications Manager at World Wrestling Entertainment and prior to that was the PR Manager at The Walt Disney Company, Consumer Products and formerly Account Supervisor at Weber Shandwick. The Public Relations Society of America awarded Tara with a PRSA award for “Best One-Time Media or Special Event.” She is also a popular lifestyle blogger at www.tarametblog.com, a blog contributor at The Huffington Post and was named one of the 20 Most Influential People in LA due to her online footprint.
With 20 plus years of public relations, branding and marketing experience, Carol is passionate about creating and driving campaigns that don’t just make a lot of noise, but help achieve client’s strategic goals. Prior to joining Zebra, she directed global consumer PR for Microsoft’s first and third party Xbox games division. She also directed the worldwide PR launch of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and has led the communication strategies for IPO’s and company buyouts with Seattle’s Best Coffee/Starbucks, Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro, ARIS (B2B tech) and more. Media training, crisis communications and client preparedness are second nature—as is driving relevant and global press coverage with reporters in North America and Europe. Always keeping up with tactics to support strategic counsel, Carol has also produced numerous client videos and television commercials, and is passionate about driving viral social media traction.
Analytics, research, measurement, digital tech, you name it, and it has Bryce’s picture on it. Bryce is an expert in taking complex data and turning it into highly useful information whether for reporting, developing an infographic or the many other ways in which information needs to breathe metrics in a visual way. Bryce graduated from Seattle University as a numbers guy started as an intern at Zebra and was so good, we vowed to never let him go! (And our team and clients have thanked us ever since.)
Lindsay has spent almost 15 years working with a wide variety of companies to enhance their market share through increased visibility. Based in LA, she has worked in entertainment, technology, political, video games and non-profit PR. Prior to joining Zebra, Lindsay was at Disney’s Interactive Media Group, where she served as the Communications Manager for the company’s online gaming business and worked on major franchises. She also spent several years working for Bender/Helper Impact, where she was the PR Account Supervisor on the Interactive Entertainment team working on AOL Games, Buena Vista Games, Namco and many more.
Alice Martinez is a veritable Swiss Army knife, adapting her skill set to best meet a variety of clients’ needs. With a diverse background in communications, education, broadcast journalism and government affairs, Alice can multi-task like no other and is instrumental in bringing insightful, creative solutions and strategies to the table. Alice joined the herd officially in 2015, after more than five years working alongside Zebra as part of the in-house team for Sapphire Energy, and algae based fuels company. She is passionate about developing strategies to bring big ideas to market, isn’t afraid to get into the weeds to make things happen, and has a particular interest in all things related to new technology.
Amber has close to 20 years experience driving integrated communications and marketing strategies for global brands and consumer products, including Nintendo, Microsoft and Starbucks, A seasoned brand storyteller and creative strategist, Amber spent 11 years at Nintendo as Director of Influencer and Trend Marketing, driving PR for product launches, social media, influencer and celebrity relations and large-scale media and consumer events.
Kris Kraves brings 20 years of consumer public relations expertise to Zebra. Her relentless and strategic media relations skills have garnered major placements for companies in the consumer electronics, video games and technology sectors, including Disney Consumer Products, Duracell, Yahoo!, Activision, Electronic Arts, Virgin Interactive, Symantec and Polaroid. Prior to joining Zebra, she handled PR for Iomega (now LenovoEMC) for nearly 15 years for the company’s consumer storage and network devices for small-businesses. Kris’ yearly holiday gift guide program for Iomega secured stories in virtually every major consumer publication. She also booked back-to-back press meetings for the company year-after-year at CES. Other recent experience includes launching new toys for Marbles: The Brain Store and Jada Remote Controlled Cars.
Shannon brings 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing communications and events. She develops and implements strategic campaigns that align messaging and strategies with the objectives, and oversees program development, account management, execution and analysis to ensure that the initiatives resonate with the key consumer and media audiences. In her day-to-day role, she manages national and community campaigns and events to publicize products and promotions, as well as directs media relations outreach to generate awareness for products or services. During her career, Shannon has worked with a range of international brands to start-ups, and has held long-term consulting and in-house positions with Edelman, Golin, Culture Shop, Edelman, Bratskeir & Company, The GCI Group, Geltzer & Company.
Sarah Miller is an account coordinator with Zebra Partners, where she provides foundational support for a myriad of brand partners that cross VR, digital kids and gaming. Specifically, she is responsible for custom media list builds, ongoing coverage tracking, awards and conference intelligence and up-to-date research specific to key industry news. Sarah recently spent a year working in Bangalore’s growing tech center, and brings her diverse and global expertise to Zebra’s roster of clients.
